Jordan Spieth 8-1 to keep Grand Slam dream alive
Published:
Masters and US Open winner Jordan Spieth goes into the Open Championship tomorrow as the 8-1 favourite with bookmaker Coral to keep alive his hopes of securing the calendar Grand Slam in 2015. The American, who warmed up for St Andrews in perfect style by winning the John Deere Classic at the weekend, has been very popular at the top of the market since Coral pushed him out to 8-1, which is currently the top price in the industry.
Coral is still betting on the number of Grand Slams Spieth will win this year in which they chalk all four up at 25-1 in the market, while the world number two is 25-1 to break Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 Majors.
“Since pushing Jordan Spieth out to 8-1 in our outright book for The Open, we have seen a huge amount of interest in the American keeping his Grand Slam hopes alive at St Andrews. We have tried to be as competitive as we can at the top end of our market and in doing so we’ve laid plenty on Rose, Stenson and Oosthuizen,” said Coral’s John Hill.
