Hull’s Brady bounces back to top-flight with Canaries switch

Republic of Ireland international Robbie Brady will return to the Premier League this season, after Hull City sell him to top-flight newcomers Norwich City for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal, following previously failed attempts to land the winger.

The 23-year-old Dubliner has been a target for the Canaries all summer, following the his drop down divisions last season, with Steve Bruce’s Tigers having failed to retain their top tier status with relegation to the Championship (5/2 with Coral to be promoted).

Brady was one of the club’s star performers, despite the daunting downfall, and will now join international teammate James McClean in returning to the top flight, with the Derry winger having recently arrived at West Bromwich Albion from Wigan Athletic. This latest switch will be welcome news to Brady’s national coach Martin O’Neill, who will now hope his wideman can impress for Ireland in their quest to recover from recent slip-ups and qualify for next summer’s Euro 2016 (13/8 to qualify).

The new Carrow Road acquisition will want a strong showing on his return to the Premier League, as he prepares to embark on a new challenge with Alex Neill’s men, and the manager said: “I’m really pleased to sign Robbie. As everyone’s aware, we’ve been chasing him for quite a while.

“He’ll be an absolutely perfect fit for us. Hopefully he can go on and show everything that we think he’s capable of.

“He’s dynamic, he’s got good energy to get up and down the pitch, and he’s got a fantastic left foot which makes him a real danger at set-pieces. He’s got a lot of things in his locker.

“It gives us good competition down the left side. He’s got good pedigree and he’s still young so he’s got his best days ahead of him, so we’re just really happy that we’ve managed to get it over the line.”

Brady becomes Norwich’s third signing this summer after Graham Dorrans and Youssouf Mulumbu also arrived, but their boss Neil is still hopeful of making further additions (6/5 to be relegated).

“I think there has been a lot of speculation surrounding us and players,” he stated. “Rickie Lambert was tagged with us maybe two or three weeks ago now and then it went quiet and it crept back up again. At the moment it is just speculation.

“I think having added Graham Dorrans and Mulumbu if I could add another three or four I would be pleased. Over the course of the start of this week onwards we would like to hopefully do a couple more bits of business.”

Brady’s talents in a wide position will undoubtedly help Norwich in their attempts to avoid an immediate return to the Championship this campaign, with his move to Carrow Road also set to prolong his already glowing Ireland career.
