Golden Horn 4-11 for Coral-Eclipse victory as five are declared for Sandown showpiece

The Investec Derby winner Golden Horn is 4-11 favourite with the sponsor for Saturday’s Coral-Eclipse, after five runners were declared for the Sandown Group One today.  Last year’s Prix Du Jockey Club winner The Grey Gatsby is 7-2 second favourite, with the Aidan O’Brien-trained Cougar Mountain next at 12-1.

Coral are also betting on what Golden Horn’s winning distance might be, and go 5-4 that it’s more than two lengths, and 2-1 that he wins by two lengths or less, while on the supporting card, Mecca’s Angel is 11-4 favourite for the Coral Charge, ahead of Waady at 3-1, and Basem and Sahaafy share favouritism for the Coral Challenge at 9-2.

“The Coral-Eclipse was always meant to be the first clash of the generations over the middle-distances, and this year’s renewal lives up to that billing, with this season’s Derby hero taking on a top class elder horse in The Grey Gatsby.  Punters have sided with Golden Horn all week, and we have taken numerous four-figure bets on Frankie Dettori’s mount, who will start one of the shortest priced favourites we have seen in the 40 years of our sponsorship,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
