Five replacements for Stevan Jovetic at Manchester City

With Montenegrin man Stevan Jovetic heading to Inter Milan, initially on loan ahead of a permanent move, Coral suggest five players that Manchester City, 12/5 with Coral to regain the Premier League title next season, could replace him with.

Having already signed attacker Raheem Sterling this summer, whether Manuel Pellegrini sees the Englishman as a replacement remains to be seen, though the Chilean will no doubt want to bolster his attacking options, especially with Bosnian frontman Edin Dzeko also linked with a move away from the club.

Eduardo Vargas
As a back-up, Pellegrini’s compatriot might be a useful option. Despite an unsuccessful campaign with QPR last term, the striker proved that he can score goals at the highest level, performing admirably at the Copa America as Chile won the coveted crown. He would also fit into City’s style of play and the club wouldn’t have to pay too much for him.

Jose Salomon Rondon
Another who shone at the Copa America, the Venezuelan who plays for Zenit St Petersburg would provide adequate cover and his pace can catch opponents out. A comfortable finisher, he would link up well with fellow South American Sergio Aguero.

Anthony Martial
The 19-year-old Monaco attacker is a prodigious talent and with City looking to invest in youth, he has more than enough ability to perform in City’s first team. He was a key component of his club’s Champions League campaign last term and Pellegrini could do much worse.

Salomon Kalou
Currently at Hertha Berlin, the 29-year-old would add crucial cover and experience to City’s forward department and is more than accustomed to the Premier League, having played for and won silverware with Chelsea. An instinctive finisher, he pounces on opportunities in the penalty area and would be a great addition for City alongside fellow Ivory Coast international Wilfried Bony.

Gonzalo Higuain
Napoli are unlikely to sell their prized asset unless they receive a lucrative offer. As City already have Aguero and £27m January signing Bony, the chances of them shelling out on Higuain are slim. Should Dzeko leave and City collect a considerable sum, they could be tempted to pursue the Argentina frontman, who will crave Champions League football next term; something which the Naples outfit cannot offer him.
