In an effort to significantly boost their midfield areas, Tottenham are aiming to capture Everton and Republic of Ireland international midfielder James McCarthy. The Toffees anchorman is a key feature of Martin O’Neill’s side who are vying for Euro 2016 qualification (13/5 with Coral to qualify from Group D), and would provide Mauricio Pochettino with a talented playmaker in his squad.

Although, the Merseyside club are hoping to strengthen their defence for next season, and have identified out-of-favour Juventus centre back Angelo Ogbonna as their primary target. The 27-year-old has endured a tough time in Turin, and it is believed West Ham United are also tracking his services.

The Hammers are also close to signing Argentine midfielder Manuel Lanzini on loan from United Arab Emirates club Al Jazira. The 22-year-old has reportedly already agreed a deal in principle to join the East London outfit.

A possible departure from Upton Park could be Stewart Downing, with the former England international wideman in talks with his previous club Middlesbrough and fellow North East side Sunderland. The Black Cats have already had a £5m deal rejected, but are set to up their offer.

Potentially bad news for Manchester United fans comes from Real Madrid, where long-serving goalkeeper Iker Casillas is reportedly happy to join Portuguese outfit Porto. If such a move materialises, Los Blancos are sure to up their pursuit of Spain international David de Gea.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are refusing to give up on their attempts to sign Madrid centre back Sergio Ramos, with Louis van Gaal expected to increase the club’s offer for their defensive target.

Although, one departure that is looking likely now is that of Brazilian right back Rafael, who is being linked to several Serie A sides, after United revealed they would listen to offers for his services. Van Gaal’s men are linked to Everton full back Seamus Coleman and are 11/2 for next season’s title.

Finally, after having a bid accepted for Inter Milan playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri, Stoke City are hoping to reinforce their goal guard position, with a move for former Wigan Athletic stopper Ali Al-Habsi. The 33-year-old would be a suitable back-up to England international Jack Butland, with Asmir Begovic expected to depart.
