Coral’s Rumour Reel: Man City to continue chasing De Bruyne?

Published:

Manchester City have been linked with a big-money swoop for Wolfsburg’s talented playmaker Kevin De Bruyne since the Belgium international discovered his incredible creative form last season, and the Sky Blues aren’t giving up their chase.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are still pursuing former Chelsea misfit De Bruyne and are set to offer the Bundesliga club a British record £60m to land the 24-year-old. City are 12/5 with Coral to recapture the domestic crown this term.

The Chilean coach is also reportedly interested in Valencia’s wantaway defender Nicolas Otamendi, a long-term target of their close city rivals, while Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez has ruled out selling Sergio Ramos to either Manchester club.

On the red half of the city, Louis van Gaal’s men have been busy preparing for the new campaign, as they continue their pre-season commitments in America. Although, a possible departure from the Dutchman’s recently revamped squad could be Angel di Maria, who is being heavily linked to French champions PSG.

Such a move could pave the way for the sensational arrival of Swedish frontman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has admitted that his future lies in the hands of his agent. Man Utd are reportedly interested in a new striker and the PSG sharpshooter could be open to finally showcasing his talents in England.

With so many arrivals this summer already, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has accused the Red Devils of abandoning their tradition of youth development in pursuit of short-term glory. The Gunners manager may soon see his goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny depart, though, as Serie A side Roma close in on a season-long loan deal.

Newcastle United are set to complete the signing of Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba, with the 20-year-old having recently arrived for his medical at St James’ Park and will link-up with his ex-teammate Aleksandar Mitrovic who also joined from the Belgian outfit in this window.

Meanwhile, Liverpool plan to continue their summer spending spree and could turn to PSG left back Lucas Digne, with the 22-year-old potentially set to follow Christian Benteke to Anfield.

In the Championship, Middlesbrough are tracking Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes, and are prepared to offer £14m, which would be a record for a second tier player. Boro are 11/5 to gain promotion to the top-flight this campaign.
