SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Baron Run has a terrific record at Hamilton, and can take advantage of a drop in the weights to further enhance it with victory in the 5f handicap on this evening’s card at the Scottish venue (21.10).

The gelding has won five of his eight starts over course and distance, and three of those came during a productive 2014.

In the last, the Karl Burke trained five-year-old showed hsi customary early dash to make all and gamely beat Classy Anne by a neck in a class 4 contest off a a mark of 75.

Baron Run is now able to race in this lower grade class 5 affair off 1lb lower having failed to sparkle in three runs this season.

It gives the son of Bertolini a huge shout at the weights, and it would be no surprise to see Baron Run bounce back to form as he usually needs a few runs to put him straight.

Baron Run also goes extremely well for jockey Joey Haynes, who has partnered him to all his career successes and is good value for his 3lb claim.

Taking it into account, Baron Run is very well-treated on the pick of his form now returned to his favourite stomping ground.

Assault_On_Rome

In the 1m handicap (19.40), Assault On Rome looks a worthy favourite provide in-form trainer Mark Johnston with another winner.

The filly bounced back to form on her penultimate outing at Leicester when romping to a six length success, and lost little in defeat when turned out quickly three days late under a 6lb penalty and going down by a short-head at Beverley.

Assualt On Rome has to run off 2lb higher in this, but is due to go up 5lb in future races so is officially 3lb “well in” at the weights.

That is going to make the daughter of Holy Roman Emporer very difficult to beat given her current mood, and another plus is that her handler has a good record with his runners at the venue.

Johnston boasts a 25 per cent rate strike rate at the track in the past 12 months, saddling 11 winners and 10 placed horses from 44 runners.

Selections:
18.10: Schmooze
18.40: Bossipop

19.40: Assault On Rome (NB)
20.10: Jack Luey
