Are the tables about to be turned on Real Madrid? Rumour has it Manchester United may make a move for Los Blancos and Spain stalwart Sergio Ramos. The former Sevilla centre half still has two years to run on his current Real deal, but negotiations are said to have stalled due to wage demands, leaving the path clear for the Devils.

Man Utd’s defensive recruitment drive could also see Louis van Gaal snap-up Everton centre back starlet John Stones, after the 21-year-old impressed with his maturity and composure for the Toffees (14/1 with Coral for a top four finish in 2015/16) this term.

Meanwhile, in the blue half of Manchester, Man City are apparently preparing for a mega spending spree this summer, which could see the Citizens spalsh out around £150m to land long-mooted targets Juventus dynamo Paul Pogba, Liverpool contract rebel Raheem Sterling and Wolfsburg wing wizard Kevin De Bruyne.

To give Liverpool a transfer boost should Sterling exit Anfield, Brendan Rodgers may challenge Newcastle United for QPR hitman Charlie Austin’s signature, having apparently already been rebuffed by ex-City and United striker Carlos Tevez.

With Danny Ings already off the market and an Austin move now in doubt, new Newcastle boss Steve McClaren is believed to be tracking another young English attacker in West Bromwich Albion sharpshooter Saido Berahino, although the forward recently told media: “I’m at West Brom and I’m happy.”

From north to south, Tottenham (5/1 for a top four finish in 2015/16) are also hitting the headlines, and it could be a case of one winger in, one winger out, at White Hart Lane as Italian giants Juventus are rumoured to be ready to return Argentine wideman Erik Lamela to Serie A.

Potentially arriving to take the former Roma star’s place could be Chelsea-owned wingman Mohamed Salah. The Egypt international impressed on loan after being farmed out to Fiorentina, but could now be snatched by Spurs for a temporary stint in north London. Will the Blues lend a hand to their capital competitors?
