Coral’s rumour reel: France midfield stars on the move?

| 01.06.2015

Manchester United (7/1 with Coral to win the FA Cup in 2015/16) are the talk of the town this morning, with news emerging that the Red Devils are preparing to rival Arsenal for Southampton midfield shield Morgan Schneiderlin’s signature. The Saints star could command a fee of around £25m, with Atletico Madrid and Juventus also said to be circling.

Elsewhere in Old Trafford related news, Louis van Gaal may take advantage of former club Bayern Munich’s mooted revamp and bolster his defence with Brazil and Bayern Munich centre back Dante, in a sensational double swoop for the 31-year-old and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

From one talented defender to another, Toby Alderweireld’s future could be set to take a twist, as reports suggest Premier League champions Chelsea may beat Southampton to the Atletico Madrid-owned centre half, who impressed on loan at St Mary’s this season.

The Blues’ backline already gives off the air of being unbreachable, and adding the intelligent Belgian to the mix would make Jose Mourinho’s men an even more formidable force.

Meanwhile, Alan Pardew continues to put Crystal Palace on the map, as the Eagles are now linked with an ambitious move to bring the coach’s former Newcastle United charge and current PSG playmaker Yohan Cabaye to Selhurst Park. Will the talented Frenchman be tempted to swap Paris for London?

It could be a case of one in and one out for Palace, however, as Everton are believed to be sniffing around reliable centre half Scott Dann, with Roberto Martinez keen to replenish his rearguard after a somewhat rocky season.

Back up north, Liverpool’s hunt for a keeper to provide Simon Mignolet with competition between the posts has thrown a surprise name out of the hat in Cardiff custodian David Marshall, who could set the Reds back around £5m.

Should Brendan Rodgers also land Aston Villa marksman Christian Benteke, Tim Sherwood could turn his attention to Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, whose tally of 20 league goals this term helped the Cherries (6/5 to be relegated in 2015/16) claim both the Championship crown and Premier League promotion.
