Wigan host Hull KR in Challenge Cup with winger Charnley recalled

Wigan are heavily odds-on with sponsors Coral at 1/7 to to beat Hull KR in the Challenge Cup, having beaten the Humberside outfit 60-0 at the DW Stadium at the beginning of May.

Super League top-scorer Joe Burgess crossed for a hat-trick in that match, and is 6/1 to score first having also done that last time out in the 28-0 win against Castleford Tigers. George Williams also breached the in-goal area twice in that match, and is a decent price at 2/1 in the anytime market.

Dan Sarginson, meanwhile, has scored twice in a row and is starting to put together some consistency. Having followed up his try against Chris Chester’s side with one against the Tigers, he is evens to cross again anytime.

However, arguably player of the season for the Cherry and Whites, Dom Manfredi, who is joint-second top scorer in Super League, with 12 tries, is injured, which means England international Josh Charnley will come back into the side. He is 6/1 to cross first, and was the Warriors’ top-scorer last term with 19.

The 23-year-old is eagerly anticipating the Rovers tie. “I’m absolutely buzzing at being back in the side for Friday’s Challenge Cup clash with Hull KR and know I have to play well,” Charnley said.

“It’s disappointing seeing Dom Manfredi picking up an injury but I have to take this opportunity 100 percent. Wigan want to be back at Wembley this season.

“The hunger among us to win trophies is greater than ever. I want to stay and do my bit to hopefully achieve this and more in the future,” Charnley continued. “I have had the good fortune to play at Wembley twice and won on both occasions.”

The Robins, meanwhile, will be looking to wipe memories of the heavy defeat they suffered at the hands of Wigan earlier in the month. Having crushed Wakefield 54-6 last time out, they will have confidence coming into the clash.

Kieran Dixon scored twice in the match and is evens to do so anytime again, while Josh Mantellato also was on the scoreboard twice, and is a decent 11/8 price to score in the same market.
