Potentially poached players from relegated Premier League clubs

On a thrilling Premier League final day, Newcastle United rallied to top-flight safety, with Hull City subsequently joining QPR and Burnley as this season’s relegated sides.

With these three teams succumbing to the daunting drop down divisions, Coral football writers look at which club stars could potentially be snapped up by top tier teams in the summer transfer market.

Danny Ings (Burnley)
Burnley were the first team to secure an immediate return to the Championship for next season, despite their star striker’s best efforts. In-form Ings is set for a bust summer with Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21 side in the European Championships (5/1 with Coral to win), after a personally prolific campaign.

The deadly finisher would benefit any top-flight side and is out of contract this summer, with Manchester United and Liverpool rumoured to be interested in his sharpshooting services.

Kieran Trippier (Burnley)
The talented full back was a constant feature in Burnley’s starting line-up this term, and his impressive performances will undoubtedly attract interest from top-flight clubs wanting pace and directness on their flanks.

Sam Vokes (Burnley)
Possibly kept in the shadow of strike partner Ings this season, Vokes was a continuously driven frontman who worked incredibly hard going forward and tracking back.

A lack of goals may put potential suitors off, but his work rate and helpful attacking prowess could see Vokes snapped up this summer.

Charlie Austin (QPR)
After receiving a senior England call-up, having been sensational in the Premier League this term, Austin will be a wanted man in the summer transfer market. With such a clinical eye for goal, the top-flight’s mid-table and top teams are sure to make a move for QPR’s key forward threat.

Leroy Fer (QPR)
Despite being part of such a torrid relegated outfit, Fer is a midfield anchor man that could still feature for a top team in the Premier League. His astute defensive abilities in the heart of midfield could attract several clubs needing a central engine, with Fer seemingly likely to depart Loftus Road.

Steven Caulker (QPR)
The former Spurs centre back has fallen from grace over the past few seasons, having also been relegated with Welsh outfit Cardiff City previously, but Caulker’s defensive qualities are still attractive and a small fee could see the Englishman snapped up.

Tottenham are likely to acquire a new defender this summer to accompany Jan Vertonghen, but could a move for their former defensive giant make more sense than risking funds on a new untested centre back?

Andrew Robertson (Hull)
Scottish full back Robertson has been a shining light in what was a bleak season for Steve Bruce’s Tigers, with his direct approach and strong defensive talents surely enough to warrant a move back to the Premier League.

Still at the tender age of 21, this Scotland international wideman could possibly be a regular feature in the top-flight for years to come, if a big club swoops for his services this summer.

Nikica Jelavic (Hull)
Clinical Croatian Jelavic became Hull’s all-time highest Premier League goalscorer this season, but his efforts were in vain as the club suffered a daunting drop.

Having retired from international football, the towering targetman could be on the radar of several top-flight sides in the summer, with his astute attacking abilities capable of firing some of the newly promoted clubs to safety next season, if a transfer possibly materialises.

Irish contingency (Hull)
The Tigers’ relegation won’t look well for the Irish, with many of the club’s regular starters and some young guns bearing from the Emerald Isle.

To prolong their international careers, Republic of Ireland stars Robbie Brady and Stephen Quinn may seek a switch to a top-flight side, while fellow countrymen Paul McShane and David Meyler could also depart.

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill may hope his internationals do seek a switch back to the top-flight, and his men are 15/8 to qualify for next year’s Euro 2016 in France.

Northern Irish prospect Dougie Wilson may see the club’s relegation as a welcomed chance to make good on more regular first-team outings, though, having signed from Dungannon Swifts earlier this year.
