Coral understands Manchester United have agreed a fee in the region of £25m-£30m with PSV Eindhoven for Netherlands winger Memphis Depay, with the exciting attacker also said to have settled personal terms on a four-year contract (with the option of a fifth) and be set for a medical next week.

The Premier League giants announced via their official website and Twitter feed that a deal is in place, pending a medical, for Dutch star Depay to join former Clockwork Orange mentor Louis van Gaal, who gave him his senior international debut, at Old Trafford this summer.

“Manchester United has reached agreement with PSV Eindhoven and Memphis Depay for the player’s transfer, subject to a medical, once the transfer window opens in June,” stated the Red Devils in an official statement.

According to reports, Eredivisie champions PSV allowed the exciting attacker to have his choice of clubs, with Ligue 1 big-guns PSG, Tottenham and the Red Devils’ bitter north-west rivals Liverpool also said to be in the race for his services.

It appears, however, following months of speculation, that the talented 21-year-old has opted to make the move to Old Trafford, as Dutch giants Eindhoven also revealed the news through Twitter:

PSV sporting director Marcel Brands also told media: “We are very proud of this upcoming transfer, which came in a huge momentum. Memphis has gone through all the teams of the PSV youth academy and has played an important part in the national title this year.

“He’s a wonderful exponent of our training and will make a nice transition to a magnificent club in a beautiful competition. We obviously lose a fantastic player, which is of great value to the team.”

Dangerous Depay is one of Europe’s most sought-after attackers, having starred at the 2014 World Cup under Van Gaal, before returning to stay for another season in Eindhoven to help Phillip Cocu’s club mount a title challenge.

Having fired the Ligbulbs to silverware success, and scored 21 goals in 28 league appearances this season, the time now seems right for Depay to seek pastures new, and United appear to have moved quickly to secure their target.

Speedster Depay was believed to be weighing up his options, with Tottenham having supposedly made overtures for the flying Dutchman back in January, but looks to be a fine fit for United, who often lack pace up front.

The Red Devils are yet to secure a top four spot in the Premier League that will guarantee Champions League football next campaign, but look to have already laid out plans for a return to Europe by pinching Depay from under the noses of their rivals.
