Liverpool to pounce for AC Milan top scorer Jeremy Menez?

Liverpool (14/1 with Coral to win the 2015/16 Premier League) are being linked with a move for AC Milan star Jeremy Menez, with Italian press reporting that Brendan Rodgers’ Reds have now approached the Rossoneri to register their interest in the fearsome French forward.
The 28-year-old is currently serving a four-match domestic ban but has been a bright spark in what has been a disappointing season for the San Siro side.
As Milan’s top scorer with 16 across all competitions this campaign plus four assists, Menez has understandably attracted attention, with former club Monaco also said to be interested in returning the Frenchman to Ligue 1 this summer.
Menez brings and abundance of skills, speed and trickery wherever he goes, but the ex-Roma attacker has only recently added a consistent goal threat to his locker, with this term’s tally a career best. Always tipped to reach the top, Menez has proven to be somewhat of a late bloomer.
The 24-capped Les Bleus star has been left out for the international fold for some time, but a switch away from Serie A and struggling giants AC could potentially reignite his France future.
Liverpool are certainly in need of fresh forwards, with last summers striker buys Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert both tipped to leave when the transfer window re-opens.
The duo have grabbed just seven goals between them this season, while leading man Daniel Sturridge has endured an injury-riddled campaign for the Reds, meaning Rodgers requires new recruits.
Doubts also surround the future of highly-rated Anfield academy products and apparent Manchester City targets Raheem Sterling and Jordan Ibe. So, having reportedly missed out on Dutch dangerman Memphis Depay, Liverpool could use an adaptable attacking threat who can plug numerous roles in the squad.
Versatile Menez, who can be deployed up front or on either wing, would certainly provide Rodgers with an array of tactical options heading into next term.
With Milan stuck in midtable it is likely that the ferocious Frenchman would not command a huge fee, so with Liverpool facing the prospect of Europa League football next season, and a potential squad overhaul, Menez could prove to be a sensible bargain buy.
