The Madrid Open nears its end after a thrilling week of top tennis action, and Coral writers preview the Women’s final and two Men’s semi encounters.

Czech Petra Kvitova, a winner of this event in 2011, goes up against fellow Eastern European Svetlana Kuznetsova, who saw off Russian compatriot and defending champion Maria Sharapova to get to this stage.

Meanwhile, in the Men’s draw, title holder Rafael Nadal faces Tomas Berdych, while Andy Murray overcame fatigue to reach the last four where Kei Nishikori next awaits him.

Petra Kvitova v Svetlana Kuznetsova
This duo have faced each other four times before, with the Czech world number four winning on three occasions, which is why she is the odds-on favourite at 8/15 for victory.

However, fellow double Grand Slam champion Kuznetsova has beaten Kvitova in their only meeting on clay, which was at the French Open last year, so is a tempting 6/4 shout to claim the title.

This will be an intriguing battle as both have lifted high profile trophies on this surface before, but the in-form Kvitova is 11/4 to triumph 2-1.

Tomas Berdych v Rafael Nadal
Unfortunately for 2012 runner-up Berdych, he faces the king of clay in Nadal, who is a three-time champion here, and is looking back to his best ahead of the upcoming French Open, where he’ll be aiming for an incredible 10th title.

The Spaniard has dominated in meetings with the Czech, beating him 18 times and losing on just four occasions, but has won all six of their head-to-heads on this surface. Nadal, therefore, is hard to back against as the odds-on 1/3 favourite.

In their last five matches against each other on clay, the world number four has not dropped a set, so he can be backed at a more enticing 10/11 price to win 2-0.

If you do fancy Berdych to somehow overcome his poor record against Nadal, then you can take odds of 9/4.

Kei Nishikori v Andy Murray
Despite Murray being ranked higher and holding a better career record (3-1) over Nishikori, Coral make the Japanese rising star the odds-on favourite at 4/7 for victory here.

The duo have never faced each other on clay before but, coming into this tournament, the Scot just claimed his first title on this surface at the German Open, so is a tempting 5/4 shout.

Although Murray has stated fatigue in this event, after having to play his second round match at 3am, he made light work of his following two opponents, defeating both Marcel Granollers and Milos Raonic in straight sets.

Nishikori is set to be a tougher challenge, though, so you can back the British number one at 7/2 to triumph 2-1.
