Coral football writers preview three of Saturday’s 3pm Premier League matches, as Sunderland host Southampton, Swansea City entertain Stoke City in a battle of overachievers and West Ham United welcome basement club Burnley.

Sunderland v Southampton
Prior to this season, the Black Cats (14/5 for victory) had a great record against the Saints (even-money favourites), being undefeated in eight, but the latter well and truly smashed that poor run by thrashing Sunderland 8-0 earlier this term.

While that scoreline again is highly unlikely, Southampton are terrific 5/1 chances to net three or more against a team that are now down in the drop zone.

Graziano Pelle, who bagged a brace last time out against Tottenham, also scored twice in the reverse fixture against the Black Cats, and is 6/5 in the anytime market and 6/1 for two or more again.

Dick Advocaat, meanwhile, will be hoping his star striker Jermain Defoe can be on target, and he is 7/4 to net anytime.

Swansea v Stoke
The Swans and Potters have certainly battled above their weight this term, as they lie in eighth and ninth respectively, and they drew in both meetings last season so are tempting 9/4 shouts to share the spoils once more.

Charlie Adam is in terrific form of late, after his screamer against Chelsea, as he has three goals in his last four. The Scot also netted in the reverse fixture against the Swans this term, and is a tempting 7/2 chance in the anytime market.

Swansea have their own in-form midfielder in Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has eight strikes for the season in all competitions. The Icelandic attacker is priced at 11/4.

West Ham v Burnley
Neither side is in form at all, and Sam Allardyce in particular is under pressure after his Hammers have slipped into the bottom half of the table, despite a great start to the season.

But Burnley (12/5 to win) sit bottom and are five points clear of safety, so back West Ham for victory at 11/10.

The east London outfit beat the Clarets 3-1 back in October, with forwards Enner Valencia, Diafra Sakho and Carlton Cole all getting a goal. They are respective 7/4, 7/4 and 2/1 chances to net again anytime.

Danny Ings will be keen to finish the season on a high personally, though, as the out-of-contract striker will be looking to get snapped up. He is 15/8 to score.
