Bookies fearing McIlroy-Spieth double this week

Published:

Britain’s bookmakers go into this week’s European and PGA Tour events fearing the top two ranked players in the world winning their respective events. Rory McIlroy has been heavily backed at 11-4 with Coral to defend his BMW PGA Championship title at Wentworth, while across the Atlantic, Masters champion, Jordan Spieth is proving popular in singles at 9-2 and in doubles with McIlroy.

“It’s very rare that you have the top two players in the world rankings topping the outright market in different events in the same week, however, with that being the case this week, lots of punters are combining McIlroy and Spieth into a double which could cost the industry a seven figure pay-out if both men are successful,” said Coral’s John Hill.
