Wolverhampton Preview: Aussie Ruler can open account
Published:
Aussie Ruler is by far the most exposed runner in the 6f maiden at Wolverhampton this evening (19.20), but does boast some solid form and can make his experience tell to land the spoils.
The Ron Harris trained gelding had seven starts as a juvenile, finishing placed on five occasions.
Aussie Ruler also ran well when a 5 1/4 length fourth to Charming Thought at Lingfield, and the winner went on to win the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket and is now rated 118.
The runner-up Kinematic has also gone on to taste success, and the form has a very strong look to it in the context of this class 5 contest.
A reproduction would make Aussie Ruler hard to beat, and this looks a nice opening for the son of Aussie Rules to finally get his head in front.
Norwegian Reward can take advantage off a career-low mark to land the 1m 1f apprentice handicap that opens proceedings (18.20).
The gelding won a couple of handicaps at Lingfield in 2012 when trained by Michael Wigham, with his last success coming off a mark of 52.
Since then Norwegian Reward has been relatively lightly raced, and his best run came when chasing home Tyrur Ted over course and distance off rating of 57 in February 2013.
The seven-year-old is now able to race in this off just 47, 5lb lower than when last successful, having shaped better than the bare result last time out at Lingfield on his first start for trainer Conrad Allen.
Norwegian Reward shaped as if needing the run, his first for 292 days, and the outing should have put the son of Hernando spot on for this.
Trainer Marco Botto does well with his runners at the track, and Crazy Chic can defy top weight to provide him with another winner in the 7f handicap (19.50).
The gelding has just three starts as a juvenile, winning in good style on debut at Doncaster before finishing a solid third in a 6f handicap at Kempton.
Crazy Chic also ran well when 8th of 15 to Kinglami when last seen in action at Windsor, and looks the type who could have more to offer this season now stepped up in trip.
