The first round of this year’s NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday night with 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston sitting as a clear 1/8 favourite to be number one overall pick in American football betting at Coral.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to be the most likely destination for Winston. The Bucs own the first overall pick on the strength of their dismal 2-14 record in the 2014 NFL season, and remain 100/1 long shots for next season’s Super Bowl.

Barring any draft table deals prior to taking the podium, Tennessee Titans shall select second, followed by Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders, all of whom could be in the market for a starting quarterback.

Winston quarterbacked Florida State Seminoles to 27 consecutive SU wins in his two seasons as the school’s starter, including a national championship game victory and Offensive MVP honours in 2014.

He is trailed in props betting on the number one overall pick by his primary collegiate rival, Oregon Ducks QB Marcus Mariota.

Winner of the 2014 Heisman Trophy, Mariota was also named a unanimous All-American last season after leading the Ducks to a 59-20 blowout victory over Winston and the Seminoles in the Rose Bowl, earning MVP honours in the process.

USC Trojans defensive end Leonard Williams is a 16/1 bet to be the top selection at this year’s NFL Draft, while Florida Gators DE Dante Fowler Jr is pegged as a 40/1 long shot in NFL player props betting.

While Winston and Mariota are widely expected to selected one-two, odds suggest they will also be the only quarterbacks selected in the first round on opening day of the NFL Draft at Auditorium Theatre in Chicago.

The betting line at Coral on the number of quarterbacks selected in the first round is set at 2.5, with the UNDER sporting moneyline odds of 1/8 and the OVER listed as 4/1.

Other highly touted pivots expected to draw interest at the draft table include UCLA Bruins’ Brett Hundley and Baylor Bears’ Bryce Petty, who each sport odds of 33/1 to be the first quarterback selected on Thursday night.

Amari Cooper of the Alabama Crimson leads the way as the favourite to be the first wide receiver selected, with 8/15 odds followed by the West Virginia Mountaineers’ Kevin White at 11/8.

Five wide receivers were selected in the first round of last year’s NFL Draft, and the betting line at Coral on how many will go in the first round this year sits at 4.5, with the OVER sporting a 2/5 moneyline and the UNDER accompanied by a 7/4 moneyline.

It has been three years since a running back was picked in the first round, but that could change this year.

Georgia Bulldogs’ Todd Gurley is a 4/11 favourite to be the first running back selected at the 2015 NFL Draft, closely followed by the Wisconsin Badgers’ Melvin Gordon at 7/4.

The betting line on the number of running backs picked in the first round is fixed at 1.5, with the OVER heavily favoured at 4/11, while the UNDER is pegged at 15/8.

Arizona Cardinals will enjoy the distinction of drafting Mr. Irrelevant at this year’s draft. Mr. Irrelevant is the affectionate term for the last player selected at the NFL Draft each year.

This year, 20/21 odds favour Mr. Irrelevant being either a defensive player or offensive player, with the selection of a specialist listed as a 9/1 longshot.
