Richard Johnson heads betting for riders’ crown as new jumps season begins

Richard Johnson heads Coral’s betting for the National Hunt jockeys’ title at 5-4, ahead of the start of the new season which begins at Newton Abbot tomorrow.  Sam Twiston-Davies is the well-backed 7-4 second favourite, with Tom Scudamore next at 4-1.

“For the first time in almost two decades we start a new National Hunt season with a meaningful market for the jump jockeys’ title, and if the betting proves an accurate guide, both Sam Twiston-Davies and Tom Scudamore will give Richard Johnson a run for his money, although few would surely begrudge the latter a first title having been denied by the great AP McCoy for so many years,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
