Long time market leader Gleneagles heads Coral’s betting for Saturday’s Qipco 2,000 Guineas at 5-2, after 19 runners were declared for the season’s opening Classic today.  Estidhkaar and Territories are the 5-1 joint second favourites, ahead of the favourites Ballydoyle-trained stablemate, the well-backed OI’ Man River, at 6-1.

“Although Gleneagles remains at the head of the betting, and will have Ballydoyle’s first choice jockey Ryan Moore on board at Newmarket, his stablemate Ol’ Man River has been backed from 16-1 into 6-1 in the last week, suggesting his rider Joseph O’Brien could yet enjoy further top level success despite his weight problems earlier in the year,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

Looking further afield, the Classic season begins in America this weekend as well, and American Pharoah heads Coral’s betting for the Kentucky Derby at 5-2, ahead of 4-1 second favourite Dortmund.
