It’s awards season, and we at Coral are holding our own as the Premier League campaign approaches the run-in.

We’ve seen superb signings shine and homegrown heroes hailed this term, and there will be several categories, though players can only be nominated in a maximum of two to ensure everyone a fair crack.

Next up is our signing of the season award which encompasses five players who can each make their own unique case of winning.

Diego Costa
Arrived from Atletico Madrid last summer, with a big reputation having helped his team win La Liga last season. The 26-year-old was seen as the perfect signing for Chelsea, odds-on with Coral 1/25 to win the title, with them appearing to lack a centre forward in the Didier Drogba mould and he hasn’t disappointed.

He is currently joint-top scorer with Harry Kane on 19 goals, and had a storming start to the campaign. Likely to miss two of the Blues’ last eight Premier League games through injury, he will be a huge blow with Jose Mourinho’s men pushing for the Premier League title.

Cesc Fabregas
Staying with the Chelsea theme, Mourinho pulled off a coup in convincing the former Arsenal man to join from Barcelona. He has 22 assists and four goals in 40 appearances across all competitions so far this season, and is the Premier League’s top assistant with 16 often supplementing Costa.

Alexis Sanchez
To pull this off, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger worked miracles, just like he did with the signing of Mesut Ozil the year before. Undoubtedly one of the standout players of the Premier League this term and has 14 goals to his name in the English top flight, and beat Hull City almost single-handed in the third round of the FA Cup this term.

Still only 26, Sanchez can become a Gunners great, and as well as scoring goals and assisting, the fans love him because of his relentless work rate and energy. His presence gives the north London outfit an extra dimension, and he works well with Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil.

Fraser Forster
Southampton’s goalkeeper is one of the reason’s for their success this season, and part of a back five which has one of the best defensive records in the Premier League. The Saints are 14/1 to secure a top four finish this term, though if they are to achieve this, they will have to do so without the England international, who is currently injured.

Enjoy a particularly stand-out performance from the 27-year-old against Arsenal earlier in the season.

Gylfi Sigurdsson
The Icelandic international returned back to the club he was once on loan at, joining from Spurs on a permanent basis and hit the ground running. He is third in the Premier League assist charts with nine this season, plus seven goals in all competitions. Swansea are odds-on at 1/14 for a top 10 finish.

At only 25, he has a bright future and can become a key player at the Liberty Stadium under Garry Monk and his link-up play with Wilfried Bony earlier in the season before the latter’s move to Manchester City was a fundamental element of the club’s play.
