SPORTSBOOK ODDS

It’s awards season, and we at Coral are holding our own as the Premier League campaign approaches the run-in.

After a hugely entertaining campaign, which has seen superb signings and witnessed marvellous moments, there are a number of players who haven’t featured yet, that we feel deserve a mention in some capacity or another.

Can you guess who we’ve come up with?

Read on, and we’ll take you through our nominations one by one as we bring this extended feature series towards its conclusion.

Toby Alderweireld
What a signing by Ronald Koeman! Part of the Dutch manager’s crop of recruits when he took over the Saints in the summer, snapping up the La Liga winning centre back up on loan from Atletico Madrid was inspired. The club could well finish in the Champions League this term, and are 20/1 with Coral to do so.

Alderweireld has been outstanding this season, and is definitely one of the reasons why Southampton have the best defensive record in the league. Should Koeman convince him to sign permanently, the club will have secured a superb, long term acquisition.

Dusan Tadic
Staying on the south coast, another one of Koeman’s insightful decisions was bringing in Serbian winger Tadic from FC Twente.

While manager of Feyenoord, the 52-year-old gained valuable knowledge of what certain players could do, and this boy hasn’t disappointed, immediately striking up a clinical partnership with fellow newcomer Graziano Pelle (Koeman brought the later to St Mary’s from Rotterdam).

Not convinced? Perhaps this might remind you…

Fabian Delph
One of Aston Villa’s stand-out players this term, the 25-year-old recently signed a new contract with the club until 2019 and is a key part of the club’s future. New manager Tim Sherwood should focus on building a team around him, and he can become a crucial part of the England senior set-up, having also earned his first cap this campaign.

Michael Carrick
It is hardly a coincidence that since he returned from injury, Manchester United’s form improved significantly. The Red Devils are 33/1 to win the Premier League, ideally positioned to make a move if Chelsea make a slip-up, and Carrick has been part of a chasing team which has won the title before.

Jonas Gutierrez
Having returned from cancer, Newcastle’s Argentine winger was welcomed back warmly by fans for his club’s home game against Crystal Palace in February, for his first match in 10 months. The standing ovation he received at Anfield, though, could possibly be one of the most hear-warming gestures of the season, from fans who are often ridiculed.
