Runaway Premier League leaders Chelsea will contest Louis van Gaal’s recently rampant Manchester United in a mouth-watering encounter with title implications at Stamford Bridge.

With Jose Mourinho’s Blues set to continue their long-standing rivalry with the Red Devils (5/2 with Coral to win), Coral writers look at five previous dramatic clashes between these two top-flight clubs.

FA Cup final 2007 – Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd AET
In what was the first-ever game at the new Wembley Stadium, Chelsea claimed a last-gasp victory over United, thanks to an extra-time strike from Didier Drogba, securing a domestic double for the Blues, having previously secured a League Cup coup.

After 116 minutes of action, the African attacker pounced to seal a late 1-0 triumph for Mourinho’s side, with their Portuguese boss enjoying his first spell as manager, in a baptism of fire on hallowed turf.

Watch Drogba show great instinct to win the FA Cup for Chelsea with his 33rd goal of the 2006/07 season.

Champions League final 2008 – Man Utd 1-1 Chelsea (6-5 on pens)
On a rainy night in Moscow, both sides collided on the biggest stage of them all, with Frank Lampard’s 45th-minute strike cancelling out Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational header and sending this enthralling European encounter into extra time.

Another half an hour of tense action could not decide proceedings, as Dutch stopper Edwin van der Saar then secured a moment of history for the Red Devils, saving Nicolas Anelka’s penalty in a dramatic shoot-out to earn the club’s third European triumph.

Capital One Cup last 16 2012 – Chelsea 5-4 Man Utd AET
Stamford Bridge was the stage for this outstanding League Cup match-up, with the Blues emerging victorious from a nine-goal thriller and securing a quarter-final meeting with Leeds United.

The initial 90 minutes ended 3-3, with brave Belgium international Eden Hazard stepping up to slot home an injury-time spot-kick to take the game into extra time, meaning the visitors had blown their lead three times.

Chelsea’s clinical attack then proved too much for a youthful Red Devils defence, as Daniel Sturridge and Ramires both struck to book a quarter-final place, despite Ryan Giggs coolly dispatching a penalty late on.

Watch highlights of all the goals in that incredible League Cup game at Stamford Bridge.

Premier League 2012 – Chelsea 2-3 Man Utd
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men looked to be heading for a shocking defeat, having went two goals up after just 12 minutes through a David Luiz own-goal and Robin van Persie’s early effort. Juan Mata, now an Old Trafford favourite, netted on the stroke of half-time to give the Blues hope, as Brazilian midfielder Ramires levelled proceedings shortly after the break.

Although both Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres were then shown red cards after an hour of play, Mexican marksman Javier Hernandez popped up to seal three points late on, securing a narrow triumph on the road.

Watch Torres receive his marching orders after a second yellow card for simulation.

Premier League 2014 – Chelsea 3-1 Man Utd
Samuel Eto’o clinically hit a hat-trick in just over 30 minutes to further United’s domestic misery under then Scottish boss David Moyes.

The composed Cameroon legend became the first Chelsea player since Seamus O’Connell in the 1954/55 season to net a terrific treble against United, making sure of a comfortable win for Mourinho’s men.

Chelsea’s current side are available at 18/5 to secure victory on home soil with both teams getting on the scoresheet.
