Following a shock heavy 42-14 defeat at the Jungle last time out to Castleford Tigers, Wigan will be hoping to bounce back against Hull FC, and are odds-on at 1/6 with Coral for victory.

Winger Josh Charnley scored twice against the West Yorkshire outfit, matching opposite number Justin Carney, and the club’s joint-top try-scorer (three tries) is 11/2 to cross the whitewash first, while Joel Tomkins (also on three) is 14/1 in the same market.

Coach Shaun Wane has named an unchanged 19-man squad for the visit of the Humberside outfit, and is looking for a response from his players after what is likely to have been a gruelling week of training.

“I want to give the players a chance to get back in my good books. They want to fix things and have worked hard this week. The result last week hurt us all and we desperately want to put things right,” said Wane.

Joe Burgess, odds-on at 4/7 to score anytime and Ryan Sutton (4/1 in the same market) are available for selection having been rested for the match against the Tigers, and Wane has indicated the former will feature.

“Nobody has been in for treatment and everybody is fit, I’ve got Ryan Sutton back in for selection and so is Budgie (both rested last week). It’s more than likely that Budgie will play somewhere.

“I’ve not decided on my final team just yet. My long termers (injuries) Iain Thornley and Sean O’Loughlin are still out, Dom Crosby is a week off.”

The visitors have prop forward Mickey Paea, and after suffering at the hands of Leeds Rhinos, who beat them 43-12 last time out know that the Warriors will offer a potentially tougher barrier, having suffered a defeat of their own.

In Paea’s absence, the onus is likely to be on Iafeta Paleaaesina to step up against his former club, who has said he wants to be included in the squad every week after making his debut against Leeds.

“I want to play in Super League and it was good to be back in the side last week after waiting for my opportunity,” Paleaaesina said, who is 9/1 to score anytime.

“I have to make an immediate impact when I come on against Wigan and do all I can to try and make a difference for the team. If I want to be in the 17 every week I have to do that,” he continued.

“Mickey Paea has been our best front rower this season and with him out it is down to us senior guys to really step up. It’s something Gaz Ellis and Danny Houghton do every week and I need to give my support off the bench.”

Leon Pryce, who has had a good start this season, scored both tries in the defeat, and the former St Helens stand off has accumulated plenty of points against Wigan throughout his career. He is 3/1 to cross anytime.
