Villarreal hotshot striker Luciano Vietto is reportedly attracting the interest of Liverpool, who are 11/10 with Coral for a top four Premier League finish.

The 21-year-old Argentinian attacker, who has 18 goals in 36 games across all competitions this term, has revealed that he would consider a move to Liverpool if the opportunity came up.

“If these great teams come forward and make an offer we’ll see,’ Vietto told Spanish media. “The offer would first have to be very good, but it would be very good for me and good for Villarreal.”

Real Madrid and Inter Milan are also said to be interested in the player, though it is easy to see how he would fit into Brendan Rodgers’ side. Having sold Luis Suarez in the summer, they weren’t able to find a direct replacement for him, though Vietto definitely has the potential to step up.

Under Rodgers he would have an ideal mentor, with the Northern Irishman becoming somewhat of an expert at nurturing young players and getting the best out of them, evidenced in Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho, Lazar Markovic and Jordan Ibe.

Vietto would be surrounded by players with a similar ethos and appetite for success, as well as being one of a crop of talented personnel in the same age group.

Following a brief reshuffle this term by Rodgers, which has seen him change his primary system to an attacking 3-4-3 or variation of that, from a 4-3-3 that they utilised to good effect last season, Liverpool appear to have clicked once more.

Should Vietto be attracted by the prospect of being supplied from wide areas by Markovic and Alberto Moreno, or a link-up with Sterling, Coutinho and Adam Lallana, Liverpool could well make an attractive offer for the prolific goalscorer.

His arrival may spell the end to either Mario Balotelli or Rickie Lambert’s future at Anfield, however, with Sturridge set to continue to play an important role.

Fabio Borini could also be swayed into a move should he feel his chances become limited, while Iago Aspas is likely to be sold. Rodgers will likely make a considered decision about whether last summer’s young signing Divock Origi needs another season out on loan, with the Belgian said to be part of his long-term plans.
