Premier League Darts Week 6: Taylor and Van Gerwen in crunch clash

| 12.03.2015

Coral writers preview Week 6 of the Premier League Darts, which this round takes place in Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena.

The highlight of the night is most definitely the clash between titans Phil Taylor (11/4 tournament chance) and Michael van Gerwen (13/8 favourite), with both aiming to further enhance their play-off prospects.

Elsewhere, surprise table-topper Dave Chisnall faces a winnable match against Stephen Bunting, while past Premier League champions Raymond van Barneveld and James Wade duel. Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis, and basement duo Kim Huybrechts and Peter Wright make up the other fixtures.

Stephen Bunting v Dave Chisnall
Chizzy leads the way in the table after a brilliant 7-2 thrashing of Anderson last time out to keep his undefeated record this Premier League intact, and is a fantastic 6/5 chance to finish in the top four.

However, he next faces Bunting, who has won four of their five head-to-heads. The Bullet has just three points in his debut Premier League season, and is the 19/10 outsider to beat Chisnall (evens) again.

Raymond van Barneveld v James Wade
Defending champion Barney and 2009 winner Wade face off after losing their respective Week 5 matches. From their 38 meetings, the Dutchman just edges the head-to-head record 19-16 so is a tasty 19/10 shout for victory over The Machine (evens) again.

However, three of their matches against each other have been draws, so back that outcome again at 10/3.

Phil Taylor v Michael van Gerwen
Van Gerwen is still undefeated this season, but has drawn his last two fixtures this season, including the previous week against Wright, who seemingly upset the world number one again with his antics.

Mighty Mike got revenge on Snakebite, though, at the recent Coral UK Open, as he beat him in the final, so comes into this crunch clash with confidence. Six-time Premier League champion Taylor has won five of his last six matches against Van Gerwen, so is tempting at 13/8 for victory once more.

The Dutchman is 6/5 favourite, but a draw at 10/3 could be the best bet.

Gary Anderson v Adrian Lewis
World champion Anderson and Lewis have arguably underperformed this season so far, but are still in contention for top four finishes, and are 2/7 and 13/8 respectively to do so.

The Flying Scotsman edges their head-to-head record 14-13, but has won the last five, so should be backed at 11/10 for victory over Jackpot (7/4).

Kim Huybrechts v Peter Wright
The Premier League’s bottom two duel after also holding a tight head-to-head record. Wright is still without a win, having drawn his last three, and is 10/3 to share the spoils again.

Snakebite (11/10) is the slight favourite over Huybrechts (7/4).
