Clifford Baker installed 5/4 favourite for St Patricks Derby

| 07.03.2015

Coral today opened betting on the Cheltenham Festival Charity Race, The St Patricks Derby, and installed Rainy City ridden by Clifford Baker as the 5/4 favourite.

The Gordon Elliott trained Knight’s Parade ridden by James Collins is a close second favourite with Coral at 6/4 and it is then 14/1 bar those two with Coral PR Director, Simon Clare, the outsider for the race on Lexington Bay at 33/1.

“This is the first time we have opened an ante post book on the St Patricks Derby and we will donate any profits that we make on the market to the race’s charity, The Injured Jockeys Fund,” said Simon Clare, Coral PR Director.

“Clifford Baker is definitely riding the least exposed horse in the race in Rainy City and Knight’s Parade won easily on his last start and couldn’t be in better form for James Collins so they do look the most likely winners. That said, the fact that my own Coral colleagues have written me off as the 33/1 outsider, has made me even more determined than I was already to outrun those odds and surprise a few people,” added Clare.

“Just sending out a press release on a betting market for a horse race at the Cheltenham Festival that has my name in it is a huge thrill”, said Clare.

Thomas Williams has yet to choose between his two mounts so Coral is offering odds on both with bets refunded on the horse that does not run. The race is non runner no bet.
