Argentina’s attacking ace: Five clinical Carlos Tevez moments

Juventus have opened up a dominant nine point lead at the summit of this season’s Serie A table, with a huge help from their Argentine attacker Carlos Tevez, who has struck an incredible 21 times this term.
The Turin titans, 22/1 with Coral to win the Champions League this year, have been catapulted towards domestic and European success by the performances of their ferocious forward.
Tevez’s most recent moment of brilliance came at the Stadio Olimpico, where the former Manchester United frontman fired the Old Lady ahead in their eventual 1-1 draw against Roma, with a sublime curling free-kick.
Reigning Italian champions and current runaway leaders Juventus will hope their fiery frontman can continue his majestic form this term, and fire them to even more silverware success. The Serie A giants are aiming to clinch a fourth consecutive domestic league crown, while also making an impact in Europe, having reached this year’s Champions League last 16 stage.
Following Tevez’s recent exceptional goal, Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta stated that the club are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal.
The in-form attacker’s current contract runs out next year and he has spoken of his desire to one day return to play in Argentina, but Marotta is hopeful the Bianconeri can hold on to their star striker, claiming he and veteran goalkeeper Gianluca Buffon will be offered whatever deals they desire.
“For Carlos, so as for Buffon, there is a respect for what they represent. There’s the will from our side to extend their deals,” said Marotta.
“They are part of this Juve team, they are serious professional players. So, for us, the contract is always signed blank and they are the ones who decide their destiny.”

Juventus came up against Serie A title rivals Roma in a crucial clash at the Stadio Olimpico and, after just 14 minutes, terrific Tevez produced another moment of magic. The Italian top-flight forward sent a wonderfully whipped free-kick into the top left corner of a helpless Morgan De Sanctis’ net, which later earned the league leaders an away point.
Beating the drop v Manchester United – May 2007
Argentina’s astute international famously fired West Ham to Premier League survival on the final day of the 2006/07 campaign, sublimely slotting home a vital winner over Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils at Old Trafford. Tevez had sprung to life late that season and has since gone down in Hammers history for his individual efforts to secure the East London side’s top-flight status that term.
Sensational solo strike v Parma – November 2014
Juventus’ superb striker is known for scoring super solo efforts, and thanks to his raw pace and power, he was able to do exactly that in a 7-0 thrashing of Parma last year. Tevez picked the ball up deep in his own half, strongly brushing off the defensive tackles of several Serie A defenders, and coolly slotted home past a flat-footed goalkeeper. World Cup wonder goal v Mexico – June 2010
In an eventual 3-1 triumph over Mexico, Argentina were sent on their way by a controversial early goal from their menacing marksman Tevez. The striker headed his native county in front from a Lionel Messi cross and, despite being in a clear offside position, the goal was awarded. Although, the prolific poacher later comprehensively secured progression to the World Cup quarter-finals for Diego Maradona’s men, thanks to a stunning second-half strike.
Double trouble v Middlesbrough – July 2009
After steering West Ham away from relegation, Tevez earned himself a switch to Old Trafford, where he relished playing alongside fellow world-class stars such as Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. The fiery frontman struck up a perfect partnership with rampant Rooney, linking up potently with his English teammate in what was an explosive double act. This extravagant effort against an unfortunate Middlesbrough displays the Argentine’s former clinical combination with the current England and United skipper.
This current campaign, the Red Devils are lacking a prolific finisher of Tevez’s quality, and are available at 11/4 to secure an FA Cup coup this year.
