Shutthefrontdoor heads National betting for AP McCoy

The Irish Grand National winner Shutthefrontdoor heads Coral’s betting for the Crabbie’s Grand National at 10-1, after the weights for the world’s most famous race were unveiled today. Carlingford Lough and Lord Windermere have been allotted top weight and are both 33-1, while Balthazar King is the 16-1 second favourite, but it is retiring champion jockey AP McCoy who the bookies fear, with Shutthefrontdoor one of his possible mounts for what will be his final National ride, and McCoy is 5-1 with Coral to win the race for a second time.

“The famous race has been kind to us overall in recent years, but Shutthefrontdoor has already been the subject of significant ante-post support and has halved in price in the last week.  It’s no exaggeration to say that if the horse gives AP McCoy his last Grand National ride, he could become the best backed runner in National history, and needless to say victory for the duo would cost bookmakers tens of millions,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
