Lingfield Preview: Coursing can complete hat-trick

Coursing is on a serious upward curve and can defy a further rise in the weights to land the 6f handicap at Lingfield today (4.35).

The Sir Mark Prescott trained filly has won her last two starts in facile fashion, scoring by 3 1/2 lengths at Wolverhampton off a mark of 55 before following up over course under a 6lb penalty.

The three-year-old was particularly impressive in the latter, travelling ominously well throughout on the heels of the leaders before storming clear inside the last to score by three lengths.

Coursing won with any amount in hand, and the manner of the success suggested she needed keeping firmly onside.

Although the assessor has hit the daughter of Kyllachy with a further 12lb rise, Coursing looks the type who has plenty more to offer and it is unlikely to be enough to stop her going in again.

Another plus is that her handler boasts a strike rate of just under 28% with his runners at the venue in the past 12 months, and with the in-form Luke Morris in the saddle Coursing is impossible to oppose.

In the 6f handicap (2.40), Lujeanie can cash-in on a career-low mark to score and overdue success.
The Peter Crate trained gelding is a four-time course and distance winner, who was last successful in a class 5 amateur riders’ handicap over 6f at Wolverhampton back in April 2014 off a mark of 70.

The nine-year-old is now able to race in this lower grade class 6 contest off a 9lb lower mark of just 61, and that gives Lujeanie major claims from a handicapping perspective.
The son of Lujain also comes into the contest on the back of three solid efforts, and should get the strong pace he needs to be seen at his best with the trailblazing Spowarticus in the line-up.

Lujeanie also goes extremely well for jockey Shane Kelly and has bagged a decent draw in stall five, and everything looks in place for a big run at a track which brings out the best in the veteran.

Selections:
2.00: Kodafine
2.30: Lujeanie (NB)
3.05: Steady Major
3.35: Jersey Bull
4.05: Coursing (NAP)
4.35: Lady In White
5.05: Elle Shade
