Cricket World Cup: England in must-win battle with Scotland

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

We’ve already seen one British Isles shock this ICC World Cup so far, as Ireland defeated the West Indies, and now Scotland have a great chance of beating Auld Enemy opponents England, who are completely lacking in confidence.

Peter Moores’ men may have had the toughest of starts in Group A, going up against co-hosts Australia and New Zealand, but were completely out-classed in both, particular the latter fixture where they record their joint heaviest ODI defeat.

Scotland (6/1 chances for victory with Coral), on the other hand, made a far more spirited effort against the Black Caps, losing only by three wickets and causing their hosts some trouble in Dunedin.

English-born Matt Machan even managed a half-century and top scored for the match with 56. He is 11/4 to be best batsman again for the Scots. Richie Berrington, who hails originally from South Africa, also hit a 50, and he is 11/2 in the same market.

World Cup chances England (20/1) will certainly be most under pressure in this match, but finally have a good chance of getting on the table scoreboard as they hope to be one of four in the group to qualify for the quarters.

They go into this fixture as heavy odds-on 1/10 favourites still, and will be hoping James Taylor, who hit an unbeaten 98 against Australia, can fire for them again. He is 5/1 top score again.

Taylor is also involved in an enhanced wincast, and can be backed at 6/1 if he gets the highest total for his team and they are victorious. Please note punters, there is a maximum stake of £20.

Yorkshireman Joe Root was England’s one shining light against New Zealand, as he ground out a 46 off 70 balls to help his side at least score more than 100. You can back him at 4/1 in the same market.

Bowlers for England, meanwhile, were equally as bad against the Kiwis, with Chris Woakes the only one to get wickets (2-8). He is 10/3 to be best with the ball for his nation once more. Steven Finn will be hoping to get back in form, following his hat-trick and five-for against the Aussies, and he is a 3/1 chance.
