Yeovil hoping to shock Manchester United in FA Cup third round clash

League One side Yeovil Town will be hoping to cause a huge upset when they host Manchester United (6/1 to win the FA Cup) at Huish Park this weekend, in their FA Cup third round encounter.

However, Gary Johnson’s men (11/1 to win) are in extremely poor form this season and couldn’t be lower on confidence, having lost their last three outings on the way to the bottom of League One.

The Red Devils, odds-on 2/9 to win, have beaten the Glovers on two separate occasions in FA Cup ties either side of the Second World War, first cruising to a 3-0 win in 1938, before inflicting an 8-0 thrashing on their Somerset based opposition in 1949.

United are 200/1 to repeat the eight goal hammering this time out. In contrast to their hosts’ terrible form, Louis van Gaal’s men have recently stretched their unbeaten run to 10 games.

A hard-earned 1-1 draw against Stoke City on New Year’s Day kept the Red Devils third in the Premier League table, and on course for a return to Champions League football next term.

The Premier league outfit will be high on confidence, as they travel to face a Yeovil side that have failed to score on 11 occasions this term. This stat makes United tempting at 17/20 to win to nil at Huish Park.

Van Gaal’s defensive crisis looked to be easing in previous weeks, but the Dutch coach suffered further injuries to senior players in the Stoke stalemate.

Ashley Young limped off with a hamstring problem at the Britannia Stadium and is set to miss out on this clash, while Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Marouane Fellaini are also unlikely to feature, but Angel Di Maria could return.

Yeovil’s struggle for goals this season means Kieffer Moore is their top scorer with just four strikes, but the 22-year-old will still be a threat to Van Gaal’s team. The League One finisher is 6/1 to net at anytime in the cup clash.

The Glovers have the worst home record in League One, having triumphed on just a single occasion this campaign, and Johnson’s relegation strugglers are 13/2 to concede four or more goals.

Belgium international wonder-kid Adnan Januzaj has featured 13 times for the Red Devils this season, including an appearance in his side’s draw at Stoke last time out, and the wideman is a tempting 10/3 to score at anytime this weekend.
