Sprinter Sacre evens favourite for comeback success at Ascot

Sprinter Sacre heads Coral’s betting for Saturday’s Sodexo Clarence House Chase at evens, ahead of the Tingle Creek Chase winner Dodging Bullets at 2-1, after just six runners were left in the Ascot Grade One after today’s entry stage.

Looking further ahead, Sprinter Sacre has attracted support for the Queen Mother Champion Chase, and is now 7-4 (from 9-4) favourite with Coral to repeat his 2013 triumph in the two mile showpiece.

“Trainer Nicky Henderson has made it clear he would not be willing to return his stable star to action on ground he considers too testing, and it is that doubt that means Sprinter Sacre is not odds-on favourite for Saturday’s race, while the presence of Dodging Bullets would ensure the market leader faces a proper test if they both line up,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

“Despite his long absence from competitive action, some punters have been to keen to back the former champion chaser to regain his two mile crown in March, forcing his Cheltenham odds down to 7-4 favourite, odds that would shorten further were he to return with a win this weekend,” added Stevens.
