Liverpool aiming to bag Burnley’s in-form forward Danny Ings

Liverpool, odds-on 4/7 with Coral for a top six finish, will aim to capture Burnley’s in-form forward Danny Ings before the transfer window slams shut on Monday night.
The Reds are reportedly willing to loan Burnley’s Hythe-born hitman back to Sean Dyche’s side for the rest of the current Premier League season, in order to finalise a deal.
Brendan Rodgers will be hoping Ings can bolster his team’s strikeforce next season, with the 22-year-old’s current contract set to expire after six months in the summer.
The Clarets’ crucial centre forward has been in fine form this term, netting seven Premier League goals, and has also attracted interested from Tottenham and David Moyes’ Real Sociedad.
However, the England Under-21 international’s current boss Dyche is keen to keep the prolific poacher at Turf Moor for the remainder of this campaign, as Burnley battle to beat the drop.
Ings, regarded by his employers as their key to Premier League survival, moved to Burnley from Bournemouth in 2011 for a reported fee of £1m, but the clinical Clarets finisher has risen to prominence in the top flight by leading the bid to keep his current club up in attack.
This follows Ings striking 21 times in the Championship last term, helping to secure his side’s promotion by finishing second to Nigel Pearson’s Leicester City.
An integral part of Gareth Southgate’s Young Lions squad that will compete at the European Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic in June, Ings has recently being tipped for a senior international call-up this year as well.
Liverpool would still have to part with a small fee for Ings at the end of this season, as he is under the age of 24, but Anfield boss Rodgers is keen to assure his attacking options with current strikers struggling in front of goal.
Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have had a stuttering season in the delayed absence of star man Daniel Sturridge, and Ings could provide some much-needed support next season as the Merseyside outfit aim to make a stronger Premier League title push.
This term, Liverpool have climbed to eight position, currently only five points adrift of a Champions League place. Rodgers’ Reds are 5/1 to finish in the top four, following a run of six league games unbeaten since the start of December.
