One of the most hotly contested derbies in Europe, the Derby della Capitale, between Roma and Lazio takes centre stage in Serie A.

Roma haven’t lost their home fixture in the league against their fierce rivals since 2012, and as a result are favourites with Coral at evens to win the match.

Interestingly, Lazio are just one place below their opposition in third place, though trail them by nine points. Last season, the match finished 2-0 to Rudi Garcia’s boys with Federico Balzaretti and Adem Ljajic, the Giallorossi top scorer this term, on target. The former is currently injured, though their Serbian attacking midfielder has odds of 6/1 to break the deadlock, while it is 9/1 for the same scoreline.

Second in Serie A, Roma are undefeated in seven matches and have Juventus, who are just one point ahead of them, in their sights. Last time out, Davide Astori dispatched, as the club beat Udinese on the road, and the set-piece threat is 9/1 to net anytime.

However, it could be Giallorossi great Francesco Totti that proves the difference here, and the 38-year-old is 9/2 to score last. He currently has two in the league, though responsibility could fall to strike partner Mattia Destro, who has four to his name this season, and has been linked to a number of top clubs in January. He is 5/1 to break the deadlock.

Lazio are unbeaten in six matches across all competitions, and know that they have an opportunity to close the gap to six points with a win against their major rivals. They recorded a 3-0 win over fifth place Sampdoria last time out and, unlike Roma, appear to have no trouble netting more than once in a match this term.

Serbian striker Filip Djordjevic scored against Sampdoria and has odds of 13/2 to score first, while Brazilian attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson is great value to net anytime at 10/3. The talented 21-year-old has scored four in five Serie A matches. Lazio have their own venerable veteran to match Totti, in 36-year-old German centre forward Miroslav Klose who broke the all-time World Cup scorer record in the summer, and is a decent 15/8 chance to net anytime.

With support from established Italy international Antonio Candreva, who is being tipped for big things and is 8/1 to score first, Roma may struggle to contain a fluid Lazio attack.
