Sensational strikers Aguero and Lukaku in scoring battle at Etihad

Manchester City and Everton can rely on their rampant attackers Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku for goals in their Etihad encounter, as both were on target in this fixture and in the reverse last term.

Coral make Manuel Pellegrini’s men strong odds-on 1/2 favourites for victory here, even though City will have one eye on their crunch Champions League group game in Rome, because they did the double over the Toffees last term.

Roberto Martinez’s men are 5/1 outsiders to win at the Etihad; a feat they last achieved in December 2010. A draw makes appealing value at a tasty 10/3, given the importance of City’s upcoming assignment in Europe.

It’s to their respective leading men that the managers will be looking. Awesome Argentine Aguero has eight goals in his last seven outings across all competitions, and is odds-on at 8/13 to net again anytime. This purple patch is bad news for Everton.

Aguero’s prolific form includes two braces and a hat-trick, so it’s well worth backing him to score two goals or more at a fabulous 5/2. Bosnia frontman Edin Dzeko is also back in contention following injury, and he sunk the Toffees with a double last term, so is 4/1 in the same market.

Pellegrini will be perturbed by the continued absence of City club captain Vicnent Kompany, though defensive colleagues Aleksandar Kolarov and Eliaquim Mangala are back from injury and a ban respectively. Montenegro man Stevan Jovetic and silky Spain international David Silva miss out, however.

Midfield powerhouse Yaya Toure missing training prior to this match, but merely as a precaution. The Ivory Coast international is a 6/4 anytime chance here, following two goals in his last three Premier League outings.

Lukaku, meanwhile, has three in his last four for Everton in all competitions, and he scored first at the Etihad in this fixture last term. Based on that, he is hugely tempting at 11/4 in the anytime market and magnificent value at 8/1 to grab the opener, as the big Belgium frontman will enjoy giving Martin Demichelis a run-around.

Fellow Toffees attacker and Lukaku’s comaptriot Kevin Mirallas has made a major impact upon his return from injury, scoring in both the previous away games. Back him at a sensational 5/1 to net again anytime.

Hamstring problems should keep forward Steven Naismith and midfield anchor James McCarthy out for Everton, but Martinez could hand returns to long-term injury absentees Arouna Kone and Bryan Oviedo.

Given the open nature of both their meetings last term (the net bulged nine times), why not back City and Everton’s latest renewal to contain over 3.5 goals at 11/8?
