Red-hot Rooney and promising Lambert a delightful 9/2 double
Coral bring you an sensational scorer special, featuring Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney and Liverpool’s Rickie Lambert to score anytime at 9/2. Just £10 will return £55, that’s £45 plus your initial stake!
Record-chasing Rooney is in incredible form this season, having netted 11 times in 16 appearances as he chases down his club and country’s all-time goals tally, both held by legend Sir Bobby Charlton.
Five of the England captain’s strikes have come in the Premier League, including a recent delicate chipped effort against Arsenal in Manchester United’s 2-1 victory at the Emirates.
Rooney’s goals have helped the Red Devils reclaim a spot in the top four of the table this campaign, and his new manager Louis Van Gaal was full of praise for his club captain.
“He was, in my eyes, a great example in training and, of course, he has achieved a certain level. I think he shall always play with me, although, when he is in a bad moment, maybe I can be convinced to change him,” he said.
“But he is my captain now. He is the men who sets the example for the other players. So I’m very pleased,” he continued.
“I have the impression that he lives for football and that he likes being the captain of Manchester United.”
Meanwhile, Rickie Lambert has recently overturned a slow start to his Anfield career with a goal-splurge.
The England-capped frontman has fired in twice in three games, as he rediscovers the goalscoring credentials that earned him a dream move to the Red’s from Southampton last summer.
Former Saints striker Lambert looks set to continue his form in front of goal, when Liverpool travel to the King Power Stadium in midweek to face a struggling Leicester side.
Kop legend, Jamie Carragher, believes Lambert has what it takes to succeed at Anfield, after seeing the forward replace Mario Balotelli in Liverpool’s recent run of games.
“He needs to be playing regularly,” said Carragher.
“Maybe not against the elite, but in your run-of-the-mill games he should have had more opportunities. He’s a goalscorer and can hold the ball up.”
