Italian titans Roma and AC Milan in crunch Serie A clash

AC Milan have certainly struggled in Serie A after last winning the Italian top-flight trophy in the 2010/11 campaign, with an eighth place finish last term; their lowest position since 1998.

In the last two seasons, Roma have taken full advantage of Milan’s slip, beating them in their previous two home games. They are, therefore, odds-on favourites with Coral at 8/11 for victory once more.

Currently, the Rossoneri are 11 points behind their upcoming opponents, but only three off third and a Champions League place. Milan will be hoping that their recent return to form, with two wins in their last three league matches, will inspire them to a crucial victory at the Stadio Olimpico, and are tempting 7/2 chances to do so.

But Rudi Garcia’s Roma come into this game after recently beating another struggling San Siro club in Inter Milan, 4-2, and triumphing in four of their last five league matches. They are 60/1 chances to record that scoreline again.

The Giallorossi, though, will be without Davide Astori, Miralem Pjanic and Jose Holebas for this match, meaning former Chelsea player Ashley Cole may get another chance to show his current boss he can be an asset.

Surprisingly this term, it is not Roma’s strikers that have fired in the goals, but attackers Adem Ljajic and ex-Arsenal flop Gervinho, who netted in this fixture last season. They have 11 between them, and are 5/4 and 7/4 respectively in the anytime market.

Giallorossi icon and captain Francesco Totti and Mattia Destro will be hoping they can get on the scoresheet as well, and can both be backed at 5/4 to strike anytime.

Milan, meanwhile, will be hoping their own attackers can continue firing in the goals. Keisuke Honda and Jeremy Menez have scored six and eight respectively, and are both 11/4 chances to net again at some point.

Filippo Inzaghi will certainly be hoping his side’s victory against Napoli last time out is a sign of things to come, but Roma should be too strong for them on this occasion. Back a 2-0 scoreline, as was the result in this fixture last season, in the Rome outfit’s favour once more at 8/1.
