David Moyes to offer Charlie Adam winter escape to Real Sociedad

Stoke City (7/2 for a top 10 finish with Coral) could bid adios to midfielder Charlie Adam in January, who Spanish media claim is top of new Real Sociedad boss David Moyes’ winter wishlist.

If plucked from the Potters, the 28-year-old playmaker could become Moyes’ first signing for strugglers Sociedad.

The former Everton and Manchester United coach is currently scouring the market for new recruits that will allow him to stamp his own influence on, and re-shape, the squad he was left at San Sebastian.

Stocky Scotland international Adam would certainly bring more British flavour to Moyes’ men, and is apparently keen to link up with his compatriot in an attempt to revive his career.

Ex-Liverpool man Adam has received limited playing time under Mark Hughes this term, and there is a sense he could become surplus to requirements, as Bojan Krkic emerges as a key component for the Potters.

Bit-part player Adam has regularly been used as a substitute this season, making just five Premier League starts, and is believed to be keen to exit the Britannia in the search of first-team football.

Stoke are also supposedly prepared to offload the former Rangers star before his contract expires in 2016, and could be willing to do a deal as early as January to try and raise funds for a striker.

Another mooted move could see out-of-favour Adam pack his bags and head for the Basque Country on loan, giving Moyes the option to test his top target in La Liga before buying at the end of term.

Mexico star and ex-Arsenal attacker Carlos Vela appears refreshed under his new boss, and seems to have found his scoring boots once again, after hitting a hat-trick last time out to give Moyes his first win.

Sociedad need more depth, however, and are seeking to strengthen their attack, focusing on luring a midfield maestro to support the likes of Vela upfront.

Adam would appear to be a cut-price bargain, with his strength, set-piece threat and ability to pick a pass making him ideal for the Royals’ needs. With Stoke, 9/1 for relegation, struggling recently, Hughes could be wise to cash in and free up some funds for the January sales himself.
