Manchester United value at 3/1 to give City derby day blues

| 02.11.2014

Manchester United look good value at 3/1 with Coral to turn over their “noisy” neighbours Man City in the Manchester derby at the Etihad on Sunday (1.30pm KO, Live on Sky Sports 1).

Louis van Gaal’s men seem to be improving with every game, and put in a cracking performance last weekend when drawing 1-1 with league leaders Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils dominated in the first half and played some great attacking football to create plenty of chances, and there was lots to like about the way they battled to the end to score a late equalisier and secure a point.

A similar display is likely to see them cause City plenty of problems, especially as the home side come into the game having not won any of their last three matches.

They have lost the last two of those, getting beat at West Ham in the league and dumped out of the Capital One Cup 2-0 by Newcastle in midweek.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini couldn’t hide his disappointment after the latter, and the defeat was made worse with the the influential pair of David Silva and Yaya Toure both suffering injuries which could rule them out of this.

The Citizens also have a crucial Champions League game just three days after this encounter, and in their current form simply have to be taken on with a resurgent Red Devils side, who welcome Wayne Rooney back to action after a three-match ban.

Rooney is the top scorer in Manchester derbies, and has netted four in his last five Premier League appearances at the Etihad.
They include three in his last two games, and that makes him look a tasty punt at 11/4 with Coral in the anytime scorer market.

The other thing that this game has is goals written all over it, and over 3.5 at 6/4 looks worth a play in what promises to be an attacking end-to-end encounter between two sides that are far from solid at the back at present.

In the correct score market, I am going to suggest split stakes on United winning 3-1 or 3-2 at odds of 33/1 and 28/1 respectively with Coral.

Best bets:
Manchester United to win – 3/1
Wayne Rooney anytime scorer – 11/4
Over 3.5 goals – 6/4
United to win 3-1 – 33/1
United to win 2-3 – 28/1
