Lingfield Preview: Hat-trick beckons for Sinndar’s Man
Sinndar’s Man is a rare runner at Lingfield today for trainer David Pipe and looks a worthy favourite to complete the hat-trick in the 2m handicap hurdle (1.30).
The Pond House handler saddled just four runners at the track in 2013, which resulted in one win and two places.
He has not had a runner at the Surrey venue in 2014, and it looks significant that Sinndar’s Man is his sole representative on this afternoon’s card.
The three-year-old has taken well to hurdles, finishing a promising second on debut at Newton Abbot before going on to score back-to-back success at Perth and Uttoxeter.
Sinndar’s Man showed a really good attitude in the latter to gamely beat Guard Of Honour by 1/2 a length, and the pair pulled 18 lengths clear of the third to give the form a solid look.
Judged on that success, the son of Sinndar could well have got in lightly on handicap debut off an opening mark of 120.
His shrewd handler has also decided to pitch him in against his elders, and that means that Sinndar’s Man receives a healthy weight-for-age allowance.
With the prospect of more to come and the in-form Tom Scudamore in the saddle, Sinndar’s Man is going to be very tough to beat.
In the 2m novices hurdle which opens proceedings (12.30), The Green Ogre has been found a glorious opportunity to open his account.
The Gary Moore trained gelding has been placed in all seven starts over the obstacles, and among them were some solid efforts in competitive handicaps last season.
They included an excellent 3 1/4 length second of 12 to Raven’s Tower in a class 3 contest at Ascot, and a repeat of that run would be more than good enough to see The Green Ogre land the spoils.
Off an official rating of 125 the son of Dubai Destination sets a very high standard for his rivals to aim at, and a recent run at Fontwell should have blow away the cobwebs and put The Green Ogre spot on for this.
