High-flyers Chelsea to carry on dominance over Liverpool

Premier League top four chances Liverpool (2/1 with Coral) have only won two of their last six home games in all competitions, losing three, against current odds-on title favourites Chelsea (1/3). The visitors, therefore, are tempting 6/5 chances for victory again.

Jose Mourinho’s men also did the double over the Reds last term, despite finishing below them in the table, so back them to beat them by the same 2-0 scoreline at Anfield in April at a more enticing 11/1 price.

Liverpool have certainly lacked the extra bite that they has last season, and find themselves down in seventh place with just 14 points after 10 games. They also come into this game on the back of three losses in their previous five games in all competitions.

Brendan Rodgers’ Reds also failed to score in four of those fixtures (with Newcastle United, Hull City and twice against Real Madrid), including two at Anfield, so take odds of 13/4 for Chelsea to win to nil here.

The Merseyside outfit, though, should be boosted with the return to starting line-up of captain Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling, who were all rested from the XI last time out in the 1-0 loss in the Bernabeu.

Henderson was on the scoresheet for Liverpool in their last win over Chelsea in 2012, and is a 7/1 chance to net anytime again. You can back the Reds at 9/4 if you fancy them to claim their first victory in four games over the west Londoners, or 12/5 for a draw.

Daniel Sturridge will be unable to face his old club, though, as he is still recovering from a calf injury, but another former Blues player Fabio Borini could retain his place after impressing in the Champions League. The Italian is 10/3 to score anytime.

Table-toppers Chelsea can rely on star striker Diego Costa, who has nine goals in his first eight Premier League games. The Brazilian-born Spain international was also left out of Chelsea’s midweek continental draw with Maribor, but is expected to start.

Costa is priced at evens to net anytime and 4/1 to get the first goal. The 26-year-old prolific marksman is also the subject of a Coral enhanced special, which is for him to score and Chelsea win, priced at 3/1 (max stake £20).

Blues attackers Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian have all been on target against Liverpool in the past, meanwhile, and are priced at 7/4, 9/4 and 5/1 respectively in the anytime market.

Table-toppers Chelsea are expected to put the likes of Oscar, Gary Cahill, Thibaut Courtois and Cesar Azpilicueta back in their line-up. Philippe Coutinho, Dejan Lovren and Mario Balotelli, meanwhile, are also hoping for recalls from Reds boss Rodgers.
