Owen Farrell fit and raring to go for England against All Blacks

Owen Farrell has spoken of his desire to line up against New Zealand in England’s first match of the Autumn internationals. Having recovered from a knee injury that kept him out all summer, he has made two starts since; though, despite this, he is ready.

Never one for half measures, Farrell is all or nothing. Relentless in attack, hard in the tackle, throwing his body on the line, committing to the cause. A born winner.

“We will go out and have a go,” he said. “We won’t go into the game just trying to hold the All Blacks. We have to be positive. If that positivity turns into pressure and you get three points from a penalty then that is just the way it is. But we have to be positive in the way we play.”

Although he will have a new partnership in midfield of Kyle Eastmond and Brad Barritt, he is confident that the team, 9/4 for the win, will be prepared when it comes down to business.

“It is about being clued up, being on top of the detail,” the player said. “It is important to spend time together off the field, to make sure everyone understands what each other is doing. That is where you make sure that you get stuff like centre combinations right. We review everything we do in training. What we do is push each other and make sure we keep getting better and better. We are striving to be the best we can.

“I am certainly not going to shy away from making the decisions that need to be made. With Savea, he constantly holds good width and as he is very powerful you have to put your head down and get stuck in when you are one-on-one with him. We know what New Zealand are going to bring. But we have to be ready for anything.”
