Manchester United’s star keeper David de Gea has told Spanish press that he is happy at the Premier League giants (4/1 to win a major trophy this season), and has cooled links with him back to his home city, with Real Madrid.

Former Atletico player Dea Gea, who has two years left on his Red Devils contract, said: “It is difficult to say whether a bid will be made by Real, because of all the rumours that appear in the press.

“In Manchester I feel wanted. If you took seriously what is written about you, you’d almost think you’re going to a thousand clubs. So the best you can do is pay attention to where you are. I feel very loved by Man United.”

Those quotes will give United fans much relief as the three-capped Spain stopper, still just 24, has been one of very few stand-out performers at Old Trafford the last two seasons.

De Gea played all but one Premier Leaguer match last term, and every game this campaign, but a dislocated finger picked up on international duty has threatened to halt that run.

There has even been talk that his injury could speed up a move for free agent and former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes, who has been training with the club get back to full fitness, to sign permanently with United.

Louis van Gaal has stated recently that he would be interested in snapping up Valdes anyway, but De Gea played down talk that his compatriot would be his potential replacement. “Yes, my contract runs out in 2016. But they [won’t] sign him for that,” De Gea said.

“Yes, Victor is training over in Manchester, he’s still not 100 per cent after his [knee] injury. When he is fully fit he will start to train with us. He’s still not training in goal with us. From time to time he comes out with the goalkeeping coach, but very little still.

“Van Gaal knows him well because he gave Victor his debut at Barca and has a special affection for him and, whenever possible, we have to help where we can.”

De Gea, though, will be hoping he can recover from his own injury in time to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday, November 22nd in United’s next match, where his side are 23/10 chances to take a crucial victory. With or without him, the Red Devils are a 4/1 price to keep a clean sheet.
