Coral’s Premier League team of matchweek 11: Nod to Newcastle

With the international break now upon us, Coral football experts have selected their Premier League team of the last round, matchweek 11. Who made it in? Look below and you’ll discover…

Goalkeeper: Brad Guzan
Aston Villa stopper Guzan kept out in-form West Ham United frontman Diafra Sakho, his strike partner Enner Valencia and twice saved from the returning Andy Carroll during a late cameo. A clean sheet hard earned and recognition thoroughly deserved.

Right back: Daryl Janmaat
Dutch defender Janmaat set up both goals as Newcastle United beat West Bromwich Albion away. Two assists and a clean sheet got him ahead of Burnley counterpart Kieran Trippier, who made their winner against Hull City.

Centre back: Paddy McNair
Manchester United were without four central defenders for their home game with Crystal Palace, so Northern Irish youngster McNair did very well to shut the Eagles out. Daley Blind did a decent job alongside him, but is more experienced in such matters.

Centre back: Fabricio Coloccini
Newcastle captain Coloccini shackled England call-up Saido Berahino superbly to end his streak of scoring at The Hawthorns. In fact, the Argentine defender popped up with a goal himself to add to an impressive clean sheet. Alan Pardew’s Magpies are now 2/1 to finish in the top 10.

Left back: Luke Shaw
Like his Red Devils defensive colleague, Shaw sealed his first shut-out at Old Trafford. Palace wingers Yannick Bolasie and Jason Puncheon got little joy here, despite swapping and both having a go at this talented teenager.

Central midfield: Sebastian Larsson
Sunderland’s Sweden international Larsson is always good for a free kick every now and then. His dead ball delivery allowed the Black Cats to take a point off Everton, and he’s not the only player with set piece nous that features in our midfield…

Central midfield: Nemanja Matic
Chelsea anchorman Matic set up Gary Cahill to bring the Blues level at Anfield. The Serbia international combines steel with silk and is the perfect foil for Cesc Fabregas in Jose Mourinho’s engine room. Punters can now get 10/1 on Chelsea remaining unbeaten in the Premier League this season.

Central midfield: Gylfi Sigurdsson
Swansea star Sigurdsson also scored from a free kick this weekend, sparking a late revival that downed Arsenal. When playing regularly, the Iceland international is excellent in a forward-thinking position. Garry Monk’s men are now odds-on at 8/13 to finish in the top half.

Forward: Alexis Sanchez
A fifth goal in three Premier League games meant Chile attacker Sanchez is once again a lock for inclusion. The Gunners may have lost, but their in-form forward is now 12/1 to be Premier League top scorer.

Forward: Shane Long
How does Ronald Koeman do it? Just when Graziano Pelle’s goals dry up, from out of his shadow steps Republic of Ireland striker Long. His brace took Southampton, now 9/4 chances to finish in the top four, past lowly Leicester City.

Forward: Sergio Aguero
Where would Manchester City be without Argentina attacker Aguero? A dozen goals in 11 Premier League games, including a double against QPR, keep him top of the scoring charts. Aguero remains the even-money favourite to be leading marksman come the end of the season.
