Coral’s Premier League team of match-week 10: Wanyama wonderful

Audacious chips, red cards and unfortunate own goals. The Premier League continues to be enthralling and this latest set of matches was no exception.

Without further ado, who made Coral’s Team of the Week?

Goalkeeper: Ben Foster
Five saves from England understudy stopper Foster helped West Bromwich Albion keep a clean sheet as they won away at Leicester.

Right back: Calum Chambers
Arsenal defender Chambers not only helped to shut out Burnley here, but also scored the first senior goal of his career and set up Alexis Sanchez’s opener. The Gunners now face Anderlecht in Champions League action, and are 27/20 to win to nil again.

Centre back: Phil Jagielka
Everton’s rearguard has been much-maligned this season, but Toffees skipper Jagielka kept the in-form Wilfried Bony very quiet in a goalless draw at Goodison Park.

Centre back: Fabricio Coloccini
Argentine defender Coloccini captained Newcastle United to a famous victory over Liverpool to ease the pressure on Alan Pardew. More clean sheets like this one are needed on Tyneside.

Left back: Gael Clichy
Manchester City may have had a man advantage for about 50 minutes of their derby with United, but Frenchman Clichy had young Adnan Janzuaj in his pocket until Chris Smalling’s dismissal. Shutting out the Red Devils, couple with his cross for Sergio Aguero’s winner meant recognition was essential.

Defensive midfielder: Victor Wanyama
A holding player’s job is to stop opposition counter-attacks, so Kenya international Waynama went above and beyond the call of duty with his sensational long-range chip. Couple a winning Southampton goal against Hull City with a clean sheet, and he just had to be included.

Right wing: Stewart Downing
Sam Allardyce’s change of system really has rejuvenated Downing. Often operating at the head of a midfield diamond, he was back in a wide berth for the trip to Stoke City, but continued his fine form with a goal and an assist.

Attacking midfield: Oscar
Chelsea colleague Eden Hazard may have won the west London derby with QPR thanks to a contentious penalty, but Brazil international Oscar grabbed the opener for his fourth of the season in all competitions. He is 6/4 to net away at Maribor in the Champions League anytime.

Left wing: Alexis Sanchez
For the second week running, Chile forward Sanchez bagged a brace. It’s 9/2 he can do so again, or better a double, for the Gunners as they host Anderlecht in midweek.

Striker: Enner Valencia
Who would step up in the absence of sidelined Hammers frontman Diafra Sakho? Strike partner Valencia did just that, scoring and setting up Downing against Stoke.

Striker: Ayoze Perez
Like Sanchez, Spanish attacker Perez netted for the second week running, and this time it was a winner against Liverpool. Newcastle have now put five points between themselves and the bottom three.
