Three more signings for Man Utd after Fergie says LVG right to buy

Former Manchester United record-breaking manager Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken out claiming current Red Devils coach Louis van Gaal was right to invest heavily in the team. However, following a stuttering start, they still sit some way behind Chelsea in the Premier League, and are 14/1 with Coral to win the title.

“It was really important because you need quality at Manchester United, you need the best players,” Ferguson said, of his former club that spent £150m on new players in the summer transfer window.

The 72-year-old won 38 trophies during a 26 year spell at United, and added: “That’s the way the game is going today with fees likes £85m for Gareth Bale. When you can identify ability like that needed by Manchester United, they have the resources to do that.

“Those are fees I never quite equalled but nonetheless they were needing quite a big injection this year. What has pleased me about Louis is he’s given seven young kids their debuts this year, which falls into line with the history of our club,” he continued.

“He’s not been getting the results that are expected but when I came to the club I didn’t get the results I expected myself at the beginning. Louis is going through that same process and there’s no doubt in my mind he will sort it out.”

In light of these revelations from Ferguson, we suggest three more signings they could do with in January, if they are to mount a serious assault.

Ron Vlaar
There is no doubt the Dutch centre back would add much needed steel to United’s defence, and has consistently been a stand out player for Aston Villa since being named captain. The 29-year-old was an ever-present in the Netherlands side at the recent World Cup in Brazil, under manager Van Gaal, and the Dutch boss will be able to easily help him make the transition to a top club.

Arturo Vidal
Chile’s box-to-box midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer, and rumours still persist. It all depends on whether any fee can be agreed between United and Juventus, with the Turin giants said to value him around £40m. There is no doubt Vidal would add something to Van Gaal’s side, who are odds-on at 1/5 not to win a trophy this season, and he could be looking to move as new Old Lady coach Massimiliano Allegri is often leaving him out.

Seamus Coleman
United have never really replaced Gary Neville, though a move for Everton’s Irish international Coleman would certainly alleviate concerns over young right back Rafael da Silva, who has been penalised for a lack of discipline. There have been recent reports linking him with the Red Devils; however, it all depends on his ambitions, and how the Toffees do this term, with Roberto Martinez’s side 9/4 for a top six finish.
