PSG and Monaco to share spoils again in highlight Ligue 1 fixture

| 05.10.2014

PSG v Monaco
In their previous three head-to-heads, Ligue 1’s top two in 2013/14 PSG and Monaco have gone away with a goal and point apiece. The capital club have also drawn four of their last six games in all competitions this term 1-1, so a share of the spoils once more at 10/3 seems likely, with odds of 15/2 for that scoreline again very enticing.

That result seems even more possible given the fact that star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could miss out on his fourth successive match with a heel injury. The Swede, who netted in this fixture last term, though, is a 3/1 chance to net last if he comes off the bench.

Monaco, meanwhile, who stared the season slowly, have picked up the pace and risen up the table slightly, having won two of their previous three matches in Ligue 1. All four of their victories this term in all competitions have been 1-0 results, and they are decent 6/1 chances to win and 16/1 by that score.

PSG, on the other hand, go into this as heavy odds-on favourites at 4/9, despite only winning two of their last six in all competitions. Their most recent victory, though, was an incredible 3-2 triumph over Barcelona in the Champions League, also Zlatan-less. Laurent Blanc’s side have also yet to lose this season.

If Ibrahimovic is to miss out again, Edinson Cavani will have to step up to the plate. The Uruguayan forward has four goals this term and is odds-on at 10/11 in the anytime scorer market. He is 4/1, meanwhile, to get two or more.

For principality club Monaco, meanwhile, Dimitar Berbatov has two goals already this season, and the former Manchester United star is 11/4 to be on target again.

Lyon v Lille
A draw in this fixture also looks likely, with the duo unable to to find the net in their last two meetings. They are 11/5 to take a point apiece from the game, and 7/1 for a 0-0 scoreline.

Lille, Ligue 1 champions in 2010/11, face former French titans Lyon and in good form, having lost just once all season in the top flight form their opening eight games. Despite this, they are 13/5 outsiders for victory away.

The Great Danes, as Lille are nicknamed, last won at the Kids’ Stade de Gerland in 2012/13, beating them 3-1. That scoreline again is priced at a whopping 40/1. Veteran midfielder Florent Balmont was on target that day for them, and he is a 12/1 chance to net anytime once more.

Liverpool-owned Divock Origi, who is back on loan with Lille this season, is more likely to score, though. The Belgian forward has found the net in his last two games (Wolsfburg in Europa League and Bastia in Ligue 1) and is 14/5 to get his third in succession.

Lyon will be counting on Nabil Fekir to add to his tally of three goals in five Ligue 1 matches this term. The young French attacker is a 23/10 chance to net anytime.
