Prop Kyle Amor hoping Saints can become Dragon slayers

St Helens, boasting an odds-on price of 2/7 with Coral, take on French side Catalan Dragons in the Super League semi-final eliminator, knowing a win will guarantee them a first Grand Final appearance since 2011.

Saints’ 27-year-old prop Kyle Amor, who scored in the win over Castleford, is looking forward to the match; however, he is wary of the threat from the Perpignon-based outfit, who are 11/4 to spring a surprise at Langtree Park.

“I enjoyed the game between Catalan and Huddersfield, it was good. Catalan had tries disallowed too so perhaps the scoreline flattered the Giants a little,” he said. “Catalan are flying and we are very much prepared for a big game.

“If we do the job right then we have a Grand Final to look forward to and it is something you dream of. We know that the press haven’t given us much of a chance with the personnel we have out, but we have focused on ourselves and believed in each other,” continued Amor, who is 9/2 to score anytime in the match.

“That took us to the League Leaders’ Shield and now we are 80 minutes away. Can we win it? If we’ve got each other’s backs then why not.”

Catalans winger Michael Oldfield is targeting a win, and following a win against Huddersfield Giants last time out, insists the team’s previous poor form has come to an end.

“I know we didn’t have the best start but I knew we would make the top eight and perform in the play-offs.

“We have timed this to perfection. Nobody had us down to beat Leeds and to then go on and defeat Huddersfield is awesome. Confidence is so high at the moment amongst the boys,” continued the 23-year-old, who is 12/1 to cross for the first try.

“Our home win against St Helens really gave us a boost and kick started our performances leading into the play-offs. Everything went our way that day so let’s hope that happens again.

“We seem to have shaken off the away form hoodoo and we’re now ready to visit Langtree Park on Thursday and do the same.”
