Aetna heads Coral Sprint betting as 20 are declared for York finale

| 09.10.2014

The Mick Easterby-trained Aetna is 7-2 (from 4-1) favourite with the sponsor for Saturday’s Coral Sprint, after a field of 20 was declared for the feature contest of York’s season climax. Last year’s winner Mass Rally and Watchable are the 7-1 joint second favourites, ahead of Highland Colori at 11-1.

“Aetna was a 5-1 shot when we opened betting at the start of the week, but with the soft ground in her favour, she has proved popular with punters, and has been well-backed to repeat her May course and distance success,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

Newmarket’s weekend highlight is the Cesarewitch, for which Quick Jack heads the Coral betting at 6-1, ahead of Big Easy at 10-1, while switching codes, Taquin De Seuil is 14-1 for the Gold Cup, ahead of his reappearance at Newton Abbot tomorrow, while his trainer Jonjo O’Neill is 6-1 to be crowned champion National Hunt trainer.

“The jumps season steps up a gear this week, and Taquin De Seuil becomes the first of the Gold Cup contenders to reappear, with his fortunes sure to play an important part in Jonjo O’Neill’s bid for a first trainers’ title,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
